Safe Places SEND Resources
A safe place helps vulnerable people if they feel scared or at risk while they’re out and about in the community and need support. As Rotherham is a member of the Safe Places National Network, any organisation in the area can access bespoke Safe Places SEND education materials to support learning around how to stay safe while out and about. The materials have been created using the font FS Me which has been designed specifically to improve legibility for people with learning disabilities and was researched and developed with Mencap. Safe Place materials are also symbolised to ensure they can be used to teach as many people as possible. The contents have been matched to objectives for the national curriculum and P levels.

There are also mate crime resources designed to create discussions about positive and negative personal interactions to help teach vulnerable people to spot the signs of when they may be taken advantage of or abused and what action to take. Please visit: www.safeplaces.org.uk/mate-crime/
